Holland Bloorview — Autism Assessment and Programs
Offered by Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital
Toronto autism assessment and selected family programs, with separate referral, OAP registration, eligibility and fee rules by service.
Holland Bloorview is Toronto’s designated autism diagnostic hub and also offers selected autism programs and family-navigation supports. For an initial autism assessment, a physician or nurse practitioner must refer the child or youth. The diagnostic hub serves Toronto residents and people in areas without a local treatment centre; it does not provide reassessment after an existing autism diagnosis. Assessments may combine in-person and virtual visits, are covered by OHIP, and current wait times vary with referral volume. Other services follow different routes: some are funded through the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), some are invitation-only, and others may charge a fee. Families should use the official service page or HB Info Line to confirm the correct pathway, current availability and costs before making plans.
Eligibility
Initial diagnostic assessment: children and youth who live in Toronto or an area without a local treatment centre; no prior autism diagnosis, because reassessments are not offered. OAP services have separate criteria and require OAP registration; some are invitation-only.
How to apply
For an initial autism assessment, ask a physician or nurse practitioner to submit the autism diagnostic referral by e-referral or the official referral form. For OAP services, register with AccessOAP and follow the invitation or intake instructions for the specific service. Contact the HB Info Line if unsure which route applies.
