Ask Kai is a free Child Mind Institute digital symptom-checker for caregivers concerned about a child’s mental health. It is available in English and Spanish and is intended for caregivers of children aged 4–18.

The tool can help a caregiver organize observations, consider questions to discuss with a professional, and identify possible next steps. It is a support and information tool, not a diagnostic assessment, a substitute for a clinician, or an emergency service. The developer reports that it draws on its clinical assessment experience; this should not be read as independent validation of the tool.

Do not enter a child’s name or other unnecessary identifying information.
