ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition)
What it means
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is an alternative term some people and services use for autism. It generally refers to the same lifelong spectrum that medical systems may diagnose as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), rather than a separate condition. Language preferences vary: some people prefer autism or autistic person, while others use ASC or ASD. Autism can influence communication, social interaction, sensory experiences, routines, interests, and how a person experiences the world. Each person has an individual combination of strengths, differences, and support needs.
