ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision)
What it means
ICD-11 is the World Health Organization's current International Classification of Diseases. It is the global standard used to record, report, analyse and compare health conditions and causes of death. Clinicians, health systems, researchers and governments use its standardized categories and codes for clinical documentation, statistics and planning. It came into effect for international reporting on 1 January 2022 and is maintained electronically. In an autism context, ICD-11 may be the classification a clinician or health system uses when documenting a diagnosis; it is a coding and reporting framework, not a self-diagnosis tool.
